As it turns out, Rodriguez is far more sensitive and worldly than the way she is often portrayed on the big screen.
But that’s Hollywood. She says she was typecast as the “tough Latina, with the heart of gold,” because of her breakout role Karyn Kusama’s 2000 movie “Girlfight.”
She played a troubled tough-as-nails woman who becomes a boxer. Her quick tempered character with a hard-scrabble background ultimately learns discipline, self-respect and love in the ring.
The uplifting role won her an Independent Spirit award and a lot of attention. But not as much attention as her personal life. She’s become a tabloid staple because of her open bi-sexuality and high-profile relationships. She came out in 2006.
While she says she’s not a lesbian, she acknowledges that she has experimented with both sexes. She’s dated “Fast and the Furious” co-star Vin Diesel and “S.W.A.T.” co-star Olivier Martinez. Most recently, she also dated actor Zac Efron, who is 10 years her junior.
But in between, she’s also reportedly had a rumored relationship with actress Kristanna Loken, UK model Cara Delevingne and singer Rihanna.
I’ve gone both ways. I do as I please. I am too curious to sit here and not try when I can. Men are intriguing. So are chicks,” she told Entertainment Weekly last year.
In her Interview photo shoot, she poses for photographer Gregory Harris in shots styled by Ludivine Poiblanc. She wears a sexy mix of bralettes, jackets and black panties.
The magazine always features celebrities being interviewed by other celebrities and actress Milla Jovovich does the honors. They talk about Milla’s pregnancy, and the psychic awards from traveling to far off destinations like Mongolia, where the temporal gives way to the spiritual.
“I enjoy vanity like the best of them. But I can’t stick to any of that lifestyle for too long because, when its true colors come out, it’s empty and cold and soulless,” she says of Hollywood lifestyles.
Her new movie, “Fast & Furious 7” hits theaters in April.
