“Fantastic Four” will be far different from other movies in the Marvel stable, judging from the first new trailer for the sci-fi movie. Call it the thinking teen’s action/fantasy film.

Josh Trank directed the movie and it appears the film will be far more introspective and questioning than the usual comic book fare.

In fact, the trailer has the same look and feel as the more realistic science fiction adventure “Interstellar.” The Christopher Nolan film starring Matthew McConaughey and Anne Hathaway was premised on questions about who we are and where we fit in.

The “Fantastic Four,” addresses those same questions in a slightly more, well, fantastic way.

The movie’s four main characters Mr. Fantastic (Miles Teller), the Invisible Woman (Kate Mara), the Human Torch (Michael B. Jordan) and the Thing (Jamie Bell) all have super powers. But they weren’t always that way.

They start out as four young outsiders who were also trying to figure out where they fit in. They teleport to an alternate universe that transforms them into the manifestations of the earth’s fundamental elements.

But in the end, they are still left facing the same question: Where do they fit in?

While they’re figuring that out, they must also learn how to harness their super-powers and thwart a dire enemy that threatens the earth.

“How did we get this far?” says a haunting voice-over as the clip opens. “Human beings had an immeasurable desire to discover, to invent, to build.

Our future depends on us furthering these ideals. Our responsibility rests on the shoulders of generations to come.”

Wait! It gets much heavier than that.

“But with every new discovery, there is risk; there is sacrifice and there are consequences,” the voice over continues.

That fact is we’re a sorcerer’s apprentice when it comes to things like discovering and inventing. So things are bound to get screwed up.

Fortunately, in this movie, the Fantastic Four will help set things straight… once they get their heads screwed on straight.

The trailer leaves this final thought: Beware what’s coming…

The movie hits theaters on Aug. 7.
