Bobbi Kristina Brown’s family has made no decision to remove her from life support on the anniversary of her mother Whitney Houston’s death (Feb. 12) and she may remain comatose for weeks to give her brain a chance to heal, according to a source.

Bobbi, who is known to family as Krissy, is only 21 years old and has shown some brain activity.

Given her relatively young age, there is a chance she could regain consciousness, barring any deterioration in her vital organs, which is often a side-effect of a serious brain injury.

Age is a factor in the ability of someone to recover from a brain injury, which suggests a hasty decision to remove Bobbi Kristina from life support could be a grave error.

Plus, it also doesn’t take into account that Bobbi may be able to breathe on her own.

She was unresponsive when she was pulled from a bathtub on Saturday (Jan. 31), but paramedics were able to re-establish a heartbeat and she was breathing when she arrived at Fulton County Hospital.

She has also shown some eye movement and has opened her eyes on her own while heavily sedated in an medically induced coma, according to reports. Both are signs of brain activity.

Reports about her condition and the family’s intentions varied wildly and are largely speculative. Doctors have made no statements regarding her treatment or condition. Most of the information, like this report, has come from so-called sources.

But the latest information obtained by IM from a medical source is in line with standard treatment for someone her age and in her condition.

She’s currently hospitalized at Emory University Medical Center, which specializes in brain trauma. If she continues in her current state, she most likely will be transferred to a long-term care facility for further treatment.

It’s not unheard of for someone her age to remain in a coma for weeks before regaining consciousness after suffering a near drowning.

Last July Jake Blackmon, 19 of Reno, Nev., almost died from a near drowning at Lake Tahoe. But within a month he regained consciousness.

“Just a few days ago he could hardly point to the letters on this chart they had and now he’s up there texting with his friends, so it’s just a miracle recovery,” his mother, LaNay Blackmon, told a local news station last August.

The latest rumor about a decision to remove her life support on the anniversary of her mother’s death originated with The New York Post. A slew of other outlets picked up the story.

But Us Weekly also reports that a family source says there’s “no truth to it at all.” In addition Bobby Brown wife, Alicia Etheredge-Brown, told RumorFix that the report is “BS.”

Police are looking into injuries that Krissy may have sustained to her face and mouth before she was discovered in the tub, according to reports.

Her step-brother Nick Gordon is reportedly one of the suspects in the investigation, but there has been no official confirmation.
