Davis, 24, was a second-tier model before the cover, although she was already on the rise.
Now, she’s likely to follow in the footsteps of models like Kate Upton, who was catapulted to fame after appearing on the magazine’s swimsuit cover.
The swimsuit issue’s reach goes beyond it’s 3 million plus circulation because of all the hype it receives. It’s become an annual event to break up the winter monotony. Cover models always get extra attention.
Davis was born and raised in the U.S. Virgin Islands, so she knows her way aroud swimsuits.
She says the islands are known for “the friendly people, great weather and waking up to the sound of the waves on the beach.”
She was discovered by photographer Ginnny Edwards in the Virgin Islands and began modeling at the tender age of 14.
At 5-feet, 10-inches tall, she’s runway perfect, but her athletic build is more suited for editorial work, especially swimsuits and lingerie.
She measures 36-26-35.
“She walks into a room and you cannot do anything but look at her,” Sports Illustrated senior editor MJ Day said of her when she auditioned for the 2013 issue. (She made the cut)
“Her eyes, her lips; she’s got an incredibly fit, athletic build,” Day said.
She’s an avid tennis player and was a member of the Caribbean National tennis. She also played on the Virgin Islands National Volleyball Team, according to her bio.
Her modeling resume is relatively thin. She’s posed for Victoria’s Secret as well as American Eagle Outfitters, Tommy Hilfiger and Levi’s.
Her biggest fashion score to date was a campaign for Ralph Lauren fragrance, Ralph Rocks.
Because of her appearance in the magazine, she also landed a campaign for DirecTV along with Chrissy Teigen and Nina Agdal.
