Tabloid magazine OK claimed in its latest issue that Franco, who is 14 years Gomez’s senior, is going all out to woo her.
This is the same magazine that trumpeted on the cover that Katy Perry is pregnant by on-again, off-again boyfriend John Mayer. That story that already has been widely debunked.
In this case, the magazine claims Franco is texting “date ideas,” like go-carting, cupcake baking and karaoke. What? Does he think Gomez is a junior high schooler? The date ideas are ridiculous.
The magazine at least has the decency to point that Selena has been getting close with DJ Zed, essentially debunking its own rumor.
In short, the Franco-Gomez rumor is ludicrous, although, like most fake tabloid stories, it has a thin veil of plausibility.
You may recall, Franco starred with Gomez in their 2012 coming-of-age film “Spring Breakers,” along with Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Benson and Rachel Korine.
You’d think the movie would provide an opportunity, if Franco were interested, to get close to Gomez. But Franco ended up in a buddy relationship with Benson. Gomez was off his radar screen.
Franco also has to be leery about getting close to considerably younger girls. Last April, he jeopardized his career when a 17-year-old New York City tourist revealed how Franco tried hard to lure her to his hotel room.
His creep quotient went through the roof. The exchanges were generously described in the media as “flirting” but they were actually hard demands for sex. Franco survived the scandal, but pursuing someone like Gomez brings it all back.
So is he a creepy predator or not?
