Gomez, 22, wisely chose not to attend, because the jokes cut pretty deep.
Comedian Jeff Ross was particularly biting about their relationship.
“Selena Gomez wanted to be here, but she’s dating men now,” he joked. “Is it true you dumped her because she grew a moustache before you?”
He followed that up with “Selena Gomez had sex with [you]… proving Mexicans will do the disgusting jobs Americans just won’t do.”
Ross ended his session with the comment: “Justin, you have such a huge career behind you.”
Ross also called Bieber the “King Joffrey of Pop,” after the sadistic boy king on HBO’s “Game of Thrones.” TheImproper made the same comparison in a story last August, so Ross must be reading all the right Web magazines.
The roast turned into a free for all with comedians also scorching those on the dais, from Martha Stewart to Shaquille O’Neal and rapper Snoop Dogg.
Also on hand were comedians Hannibal Buress, Chris D’Elia, Pete Davidson, Natasha Leggero, roast host Kevin Hart, Ludacris and Will Ferrell who appeared as his movie character Ron Burgundy, the self-absorbed television news anchor.
But Gomez seemed to be the biggest victim of the night, because of her association with the polarizing singer.
The two started dating when Gomez was still wearing a purity ring and pledging to remain a virgin until she married. But those vows quickly went out the window, as Justin became her first love.
But there was no fairy tale ending to the relationship. Gomez did her best to remain true, but Bieber constantly humiliated her with his loutish antics and serial philandering. She finally call quits on the relationship last year.
According to reports, she has recently grown close to Zedd, a Russian-born music producer and DJ, although rumors they are dating are unconfirmed.
The roast will air Monday, March 30 at 10 p.m., Eastern on Comedy Central.
