Carey, 45, usually spills out of her tight-fitting dresses, but her newly released album cover is a throwback to 20 years ago.
The singer has been going through a wrenching divorce with estranged husband Nick Cannon, and emotional experiences like that can often cause someone to lose weight. If so, Mariah has lost a lot.
Still the album cover photo, which she posted on Instagram on Sunday (Apr. 12) has some unusual anomalies that makes it appear as though it was digitally altered. In fact, it may not even be her body.
The most telling oddity is the way her head is perched on what looks like an elongated neck. It’s cocked to one side at a curious angle.
The dark shadowing along her neck and under her chin is another telltale sign the photo has been altered. Shadowing that heavy is often used to blend two dissimilar images together or to slim or shape body parts.
Carey’s waist and legs look incredibly toned and her arms are almost model slender. The last time Carey’s body match that image was before she had her now three-year-old twins, Monroe and Moroccan, with Cannon.
Carey was last spotted in public on Wednesday looking far curvier out and about in New York City. She’ll be heading to Las Vegas soon to begin her residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace.
The album of greatest-hits features all 18 of her No. 1 songs; it will be released on May 18.
