Jon Stewart, like every other political junkie, was anxious to see the Republican (i.e. Fox News) response to Hillary Clinton’s official announcement that she is running for president in 2016. For the most part, he found it… underwhelming.

After all, the GOP, metaphorically speaking, has been soaking a 2×4 in motor oil since 2008, just waiting to whack her when she ran again.

Yet Republican mouthpieces were relatively tame.

Apparently someone at Fox News has figure out that not reporting something is almost the same as if it didn’t happen. But NRA Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre apparently didn’t get the memo.

He knows the devil when he sees one. LaPierre decried Clinton in apocalyptic terms straight out of, not Compton, but the Book of Revelations.

“She will not bring a dawn of new promise and opportunity,” he warned. “Hillary Rodham Clinton will bring a permanent darkness of deceit and despair forced upon the American people to endure.”

What? Isn’t that why everyone runs for president? Of course, Stewart couldn’t let that slide.

“And when you and your children are walking this haunted wasteland feasting on the bodies of tie dead, crying out to God to save you from your cursed existence, you will rue the day when you voted for a center-leftish establishment Democrat,” he bellowed, with a certain irony.

What’s worse, LaPierre called Obama “demographically symbolic president.” Or as Senior Correspondent Jessica Williams noted: That’s white talk for a black president.
