Oddly, Kim was more conservatively dressed than usual in the photo, which included husband West and Jerusalem mayor Nir Barkat.
The photo was taken inside a non-kosher restaurant on Monday (Apr. 12). Barkat published the image on Twitter, noting that he was with Kanye and Kim “to toast and celebrate hosting them in our beautiful city.”
The photo was picked up by the ultra orthodox news site, Hakikar, according to The Washington Post. But it only showed Barkat and West at the table. Kim was blocked out by a super-imposed photo of their receipt.
The article was critical of Barkat for eating in a non-kosher restaurant and spending extravagantly on the meal. The total bill came to $692.
In another photo, Kim’s image was blurred to make her unrecognizable and she was only referred to as the wife of West.
If it’s any consolation, ultra-conservative Jewish news organizations typically avoid publishing photos of women, no matter what their social standing.
In January, The Announcer, another Jewish newspaper erased Danish Prime Minster Helle Thorning-Shmidt, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo from a photo showing them and other officials marching in Paris following the Charlie Hebdo terror attack, the Post noted.
Swiss President Simonetta Sommaru and the EU’s foreign affairs and security chief, Frederica Mogherini, were also cropped from the photo.
Kim, West and daughter North West have been touring the Holy Land where North was baptized in an Armenian Christian Church.
