Foxx, who has won a Grammy and was lauded for his performance as blues singer Ray Charles in the movie “Ray,” was pretty amazing.
Kimmel drew dead silence when he asked if any of his audience members had a profile on the dating site. “Nobody?” he said incredulously. Finally, one brave soul, a man, raised his hand.
“Well, if you’re on Tinder or have a friend who is on, you’ve probably seen some of the crazy Tinder profiles,” he said introducing the bit.
“There are a lot of them; they’re fun to read. But we thought it would be more fun to hear them set to music.”
Then, he tossed the segment to Foxx to sing real, actual and unusual Tinder profiles.” A curtain opened and Foxx was waiting with mic in hand in front of a piano and combo.
“Let me hear you say Tinder love,” he began. His first lyric: “I’m not here for hookups, um, unless you are. Then we should talk,” he sang, drawing from a profile by someone named Dennis.
“I once went number one on myself to stay in a soccer game… if that’s not dedication I don’t know what is,” went another profile lyric.
But they were the tame ones.
