Clooney has been one of several high-profile guests who have been helping Dave close out his show.
Dave will officially host his last “Late Show” broadcast on Wednesday, May 20. He announced his retirement Apr. 3., and his successor has already been picked.
Stephen Cobert from Comedy Central, will take over the show but he’ll leave his whacked conservative punditry behind. He’ll host the show as himself, whoever that is.
Actor Tom Hanks and musician Eddie Vedder will be guests on May 18. Comedian Bill Murray, will be Letterman’s final guest on Tuesday’s show, CBS announced yesterday (May 14).
The final show will include “surprises, memorable highlights and the show’s final Top Ten list,” the network said in a statement.
Clooney, for his part, did his best. He caught Dave slightly off guard when he blew off making small talk and asked to see his wrist. He slapped on a pair of handcuffs and threw the key into the audience.
“You’re not going anywhere, David Letterman,” he said.
“Neither are you,” Dave replied.
“Well, that’s true, too. I hadn’t thought this all the way through. It could make for an awkward evening,” said Clooney.
