Jessica Alba has gone from what she describes as a twenty-something “hot mess” into one of Hollywood’s best, brightest and sexiest stars. With a body to die for, a solid marriage and two children, she’s a rare combination of actress, mother and now, business mogul.
But in the end, she may be best known for creating The Honest Company, which sells more than 120 natural personal-care products.
From chemical-free baby detergent to organic beeswax sunscreen, vegan-leather diaper bags and a range of other organic products, the company sells organic products without the chemicals found in mainstream consumer products.
Although founded only three years ago, Forbes values the company at $1 billion and her personal fortune at $200 million. She owns between 15 percent and 20 percent of the company.
It hasn’t been all smooth sailing, however. In 2013, Alba revealed that she suffers from ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder). She takes medication regularly for it.” She also has another trick for staying focused.
“I’m addicted to popcorn. I eat it throughout the day. I’m a scatterbrain with lots of things to do at once, and eating popcorn helps me concentrate. It’s my way of dealing with my mind wandering off,” she says.
In 2005, she scored a breakout role in Frank Miller’s graphic novel movie “Sin City.” She played Nancy Callahan, an exotic dancer working at Kadie’s Bar.
The movie put her on the map as a rising Hollywood sex siren. She appeared the same year in superhero flick “Fantastic Four” and “Into the Blue,” an action film about diving for gold in the Bahamas that saw her spend much of the film in a bikini.
“Basically anything before I was 24, I looked crazy, just wrong,” she says. “There are lots of photos of me out there looking like a hot mess!” she told Britain’s Hello magazine earlier this month.
“My idea of how I need to look has completely changed,” she added. Now she has a “who-cares-what-I-look-like” attitude. Yet she looks better than ever at 34.
“I attribute my athletic body to the martial arts, gymnastics, dance, and strength training I did while filming ‘Dark Angel’ [the 2000–2002 television series]. That’s made me strong and really set the bar,” she told Shape magazine in a new interview in their latest magazine.
Jessica really pulled it together when she married long-time beau Cash Warren in 2008. She gave birth the same year to Honor Marie Warren and Haven Garner Warren in 2011.
Since then, she’s made nine films, including the upcoming action comedy “Barely Lethal” and “Mechanic: Resurrection,” an action-thriller with Jason Statham and Tommy Lee Jones.
