Caitlyn Jenner, formerly known as Olympic champion Bruce Jenner, has only been out of the closet officially for one day and E! entertainment is already promoting its upcoming docu-series “I Am Cait.” As they say, strike while the iron is hot.

Move over Kardashians, there’s a new gal in reality town.

When the show debuts next month, Caitlyn will be competing for ratings directly with Kim Kardasian’s reality show “Keeping Up With the Kardasians.”

There may be some cross-over between the series and some cross-promotion. But Caitlyn will be out to firmly establish her own identity, and set the stage likely for a regular series.

If the most immediate reaction to Bruce’s transition to Caitlyn is any indication, the show should have a huge audience. Caitlyn’s new twitter account broke the record for the fastest rise to 1 million followers, beating out President Obama’s account.

In the new promo (below), Caitlyn reveals what she went through in the transition and shares some of her expectations about her new life. One comment however, strains credibility.

“Isn’t it great that maybe someday you’ll be normal?” she says to a friend. “You’ll just blend into society.”

“You are normal,” one of her pals assures her.

“Put it this way: I’m the new normal!” says Caitlyn, who hasn’t lost any of Bruce’s sense of irony.

Caitlyn, of course, will never be normal, in the normal sense of the word. She instantly became the highest profile transgender woman in the world with the release of her new self in Vanity Fair magazine.

But at least Caitlyn, as Bruce, is no longer at war within himself.

“How many people go through and just waste an entire life because they never deal with themselves, to be who they are?” Jenner asks.

Caitlyn’s excitment is touching. She acts, in one scene, like she’s been really living in a darkened closet for most of her life.

The docu-series will air over eight, one-hour shows and follow Jenner throuh his transition. The series debuts, July 26 at 9 PM EST.

Footnote: Caitlyn needs to do something about her voice. She still sounds like a man. But there are treatments for that.
