Batman never looked so good. The first trailer from the upcoming movie “Batman vs. Superman” was released at Comic Con, today (July 11) and it features Ben Affleck as a pretty credible looking Batman. The casting was widely scorned when he first got the role.

The cast includes Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Jesse Eisenberg, Diane Lane, Laurence Fishburne, Jeremy Irons, Holly Hunter and Gal Gadot.

Among other notable moments in the trailer are first looks at arch-enemy Lex Luthor (Eisenberg) and Gadot as Diana Prince, aka Wonder Woman. Smell a spin-off?

The trailer was presented by Warner Bros. at Comic-Con today during its Hall H panel. Affleck, Cavill and Adams, who stars as Lois Lane, helped promote the film at the San Diego gathering.

Directed by Zack Snyder, based on a screenplay by Chris Terrio and David S. Goyer, the film is a direct challenge to Marvel’s superhero series. Warner Bros. has allied itself with D.C. Comics.

Hunter makes a rare appearance in the film and opens the 3:39 clip with an ominous warning: “Today, is the day of truth,” she says from a podium.

“The world needs to know what happened. And, what he stands for,” she says in a voice over as Superman walks into what looks like a Congressional hearing. “That kind of power is very dangerous.”

Affleck makes his appearance as Bruce Wayne. He’s standing in the street watching what appears to be Superman using his heat vision to bring down a building during his cataclysmic fight with General Zod.

Eisenberg is Lex Luthor with hair–long hair. “The red capes are coming,” he says. “The red capes are coming.”

From the looks of the trailer, it going to be a very dark picture with lots of brooding and head-scratching between scenes of utter destruction.
