TheImproper reported July 7 that the breakup was largely manufactured to create a story line for “Keeping Up With the Kardashians.”
The tabloid press, even supposedly reputable sites, has been playing right along to milk the drama for all the pageviews it’s worth. Most recently, Kourtney was spotted throwing Scott’s clothes on the curb, signalling that it was really over.
But today, E!, which airs the show, confirmed that Scott will still appear on the show, reportedly to document his split and his interactions with their three children, Mason, six, Penelope, three, and Reign, just under a year old.
What’s more, he still has a contract with the show, for a reported $4 million a year. Scott has always been portrayed as the black sheep of the family. It’s sort of his day job.
If they really were splitting up, he’d would be walking away from his contract, or the Kardashians would be trying to force him out. Rest assured, he isn’t giving up his meal ticket.
You may recall this story line from three years ago to the month: Kim Kardashian revealed on KUWTK that Kourtney hadn’t slept in the same bedroom with Scott in more than two years.
And, then there was the time Scott walked on Kourtney when she was eight months pregnant. That was a new low, especially since he swore he would cut back on drinking and try to be a better baby daddy to two-year-old Mason.
If anything, you would think that would have ended the relationship.
“It’s just like the same old story over and over and over. He misbehaves, she ignores it, and then she rewards him for his bad behavior. I’m just over it,” Momager Kris Jenner groused at the time.
Then, guess what? Kourtney gets pregnant with baby Reign, who was born in 2014. Somebody is sleeping with someone.
Only in May on his birthday, Kourtney wrote on her Instagram account: “Happy happy birthday to my handsome, hilarious, sweet soul mate.”
And what about momager Kris, who was so over him? She called Disick an “amazing son, an incredibly devoted dad, an awesome boyfriend/partner and one of the funniest guys I know.”
Every couple has their ups and downs, and maybe Kourtney is kicking Scott to the curb for real this time. But don’t bet on it.
It’s hard to know what’s real and what’s contrived, at this point. Tabloid sites are really the problem. They conveniently suffer institutional memory losses when it comes to the Kardashians and fall for the same old story line over and over again.
