During a band introduction, lead singer David Coverdale turned the mic over to Devin, who marshaled the courage to propose marriage to de Matteo, his girlfriend of three years.
“He’s going to do something very special, said Coverdale. “Get your cameras out boys and girls. ”
“Oh, sh*t,” said Devin.
“I’ll make it quick, because it should be,” he continued.
“I fell in love, can we all relate to that? I fell in love with a with a very beautiful woman a few years ago, and I want to embarrass her as much as I can,” he said.
“I’d like to invite her up right now,” he said pulling de Matteo on stage by her hand. She was accompanied by chidren Alabama, 8, and Waylon, 4.
“I’ve been in love with you since the day I met you and I will for the rest of my life, and I hope that you’ll marry me,” he said.
“Wait, I have two questions for you,” he quickly interjected. “One, will you make sweet passionate love to me for the rest of my life?”
“Forevermore,” Drea replied, plugging the band’s 2011 album by the same name.
“And two, will you marry me please?” Devin continued.
“Will you love my children forevermore?” she replied.
Depin scooped up Waylon and said, “I love you.”
With that Drea shouted out, “I’m going to marry this motherfu*ker!”
Jeeeze, Drea! The kids!
In any event, as sweet as it was, Drea’s been there before. She became engaged in 2009 to musician Shooter Jennings, the son of country star Waylon Jennings.
He also proposed onstage at the Stanley Center during a show in Utica, New York. After fathering her two children, the couple broke up without marrying.
De Matteo was in the news in March after a gas explosion triggered a raging fire that destroyed her New York City apartment and the homes of dozens of other residents.
