Ariel Winter, the precocious daughter on the hit family comedy “Modern Family,” who was known for her “ample” proportions even as young teen, has taken the radical step–by Hollywood standards–to undergo a breast reduction. Bigger isn’t always better in Tinseltown.

Winter, who just turned 17 in January, revealed in a new interview that she swelled after puberty to a super voluptuous 32F bra size.

But the over-sized boobs were a little too much to handle on her petite five-foot, four-inch frame.

“I had a lot of back problems. I really couldn’t stand up straight for a long period of time. It started to hurt so bad that I couldn’t take the pain,” she she told Glamour magazine.

And she felt they drew unwanted attention at public events.

“Every article that has to do with me on a red carpet has to do with ‘Ariel Winter’s Crazy Cleavage!’ or ‘Ariel Winter Shows Huge Boobs at an Event!’ And that’s all people would recognize me by,” she said.

Apparently she hit puberty early. The actress’s cleavage was real and spectacularly on display on the red carpet last year at the 20th Screen Actors Guild awards.

She was 15, going on 16 at the time.

Winter, along with Julie Bowen, Ty Burrell, Sarah Hyland, Sofia Vergara, Ed O’Nill and the rest of the cast, won the SAG award for Best Ensemble in a Comedy Series. But her breasts overshadowed the win.

Her blue, watercolor-patterned, floor-length gown from Badgley Mischka’s Spring 2014 collection was strapless and revealingly low cut.

Ariel Winter Abuse Case a Real Hollywood Modern Family Tale

Ariel plays Alex Dunphy, a nerdy, smarty-pants middle child, on “Modern Family.” Only her on-screen mother Julie Bowen knew about her decision to have the surgery on June 4. Now she’s a more manageable 34-D bra size.

Ariel is estranged from her real mother and won a court order three years ago granting her emancipation because of their abusive relationship.

She told the magazine:

“I’m excited to finally actually feel confident and not just appear confident. I told (only) Julie Bowen because I had talked to her about my desire to have the surgery. She was really supportive and understanding. I just saw Sofia [Vergara] the other day, and she was like, ‘Oh my God! I love them! They’re great!’”

Vergara, 42, who also is know for her voluptuousness, revealed on Bravo’sWatch What Happens Live” in May that she also wears a 32F bra and is considering breast surgery. “Eventually I’m going to have to have it,” she told host Andy Cohen.

Her goals are different, she revealed. “I’m going to be really uncomfortable walking with them hitting my knees,” she joked. Vergara is slightly more statuesque at five-feet, seven-inches tall.

Winter also took a shot at Hollywood’s objectification of women:

“We live in a day and age where everything you do is so ridiculed. As women in the industry, we are totally oversexualized and treated like objects. I’m just excited to try on all the dresses! Now I can wear all styles of dresses and all styles of things. I don’t always have to pick the tightest, most form-fitting dress I can find.”

She said she will appear at an official event for the first time on the red carpet at the Primetime Emmy Awards next month.

“I’m excited to finally actually feel confident and not just appear confident,” she said.
