Emma Watson’s movie career is booming, but she’s also been devoting significant time to her HeForShe campaign and her role as a UN Goodwill Ambassador. Is she the next Angelina Jolie?
Watson may be one of the more intellectual actresses in Hollywood. Yet she still knows how to unleash her sensuality.
She covers the September fashion issue of Vogue’s UK edition in a sultry photo spread. The images emphasize her natural beauty. She wears minimal make up in vampy poses by photographer Josh Olins.
The magazine has already dubbed her the “Voice of a Generation.” She says her humanitarian work has balanced out her glitzy movie career.
“Part of me relaxed after I took on [the UN] position,” she told the magazine. “It gave me a sense of belonging and purpose.”
Watson kicked off her HeForShe gender equality intiative at the United Nations in New York last September. Her emotional speech went viral on YouTube. It’s been viewed more than 9 million times.
Everything clicked in to place, in a way that it hadn’t before. I understood what I’m here to do and knew where to channel all this energy that has been coming at me. I now feel this sense of peace. People say that I’m different since I did it.
Jolie has set a standard for activism by advocating on behalf of refugees. She works as a Goodwill Ambassador for the UN High Commission on Refugees.
After a 10-year run as Hermoine in the “Harry Potter” film series, Emma took a step back. She appeared in supporting roles in a few indie films while resuming her studies.
She graduated in May a year ago. Her Brown University degree is in English literature.
Since then, she’s gone back to work.
She played another supporting role in the 2014 biblical epic, “Noah,” with Russell Crowe and Jennifer Connelly. But she’s lead actress in her next three films, “Regression,” “Colonia” and Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast.”
Watson appeared as the Princess in a sizzle reel of upcoming features released by Disney Aug. 15 at the D23 fan celebration.
“Downton Abbey” star Dan Stevens plays the Beast, Ewan McGregor is Lumiere, Ian McKellen plays Cogsworth and Emma Thompson is Mrs. Potts. The movie is slated for release in March 2017.
