Miley Cyrus has conservative moms in a tizzy and everyone waiting with baited breath for the MTV Video Music Awards. But as host this time around, she says the show will be nothing like her performance in 2013.

Viewers expecting an all out Bacchanalia complete with nude twerking girls may be in for a disappointment.

Miley is all about nudity, but her head is in a different place now and she’s not interested in repeating history. You may recall, Miley touched off a firestorm with her raunchy performance with Robin Thicke to his tune “Blurred Lines.”

“Even people around me really judged me. People that I really loved and thought were my friends judged me for it. They were like, ‘You were on drugs when you did that performance.’ I did nothing! I still don’t get it,” she told The New York Times.

“I still love it. But I now watch it, and I see someone that isn’t me now.”

Cyrus says one of the things she learned out of the uproar over her performance was her ability to command attention. That caused a bit of an epiphany.

“I knew who I was, and I knew the power that I held, but I don’t think I realized my full power until that show. I didn’t realize I could make such a big reaction,” she says.

Miley says she’s a different person today and the embodiment of that was her non-appearance at the 2014 MTV VMAs. She was slated to accept the Video of the Year award for her “Wrecking Ball” video.

Instead of taking the stage, she sent Jesse Helt, a 22-year-old homeless man in her place to highlight the plight of homeless teens.

Helt, reading from a prepared statement, accepted the award on behalf of “the 1.6 million runaways and homeless youth in the United States who are starving, lost and scared for their lives right now. I know, because I am one of those people.”

It was more than a publicity stunt. It was the unveiling of the new Miley–social activist.

“Now is just the beginning for me,” she said afterward in a statement. “We gotta start somewhere.”

Miley has since gone on to create the “Happy Hippie Foundation,” a non-profit group that provides support for homeless transgender youths.

So this year’s MTV VMAs may involve racy dancing and over-the-top moments. After all, Miley also supports the “free the nipple” movement.

But she’s more likely to make the evening heavily focused on social issues.

Still, MTV isn’t taking any chances. It’s imposing a seven-second delay in the broadcast to catch any overt nudity or inappropriate language.

It wouldn’t be a shock if isn’t necessary.
