It’s been awhile since the release of the first movie, so fans may have lost sight of what it’s all about.
You may recall, Katniss volunteered to fight in the Hunger Games in place of 12-year-old sister, Prim, who surely would have died in combat. Katniss, of course, won, not once, but twice.
Her skill in the arena set the stage for the revolution to overthrow the dictatorship of President Snow (Donald Sutherland). He rules the 12-districts from the Capitol of post-apocalyptic Panem with an iron hand.
The Hunger Games are a chief diversion that also helped keep the impoverish masses in line. Two tribunes were picked from each district to fight to to the death in a giant arena.
As the revolution gains steam, Katniss becomes it’s symbol, the Mockingjay. In the final movie, she sets out to assassinate President Snow.
“I never asked for this. I just wanted to save my sister,” Katniss says about her role as revolutionary leader.
“It’s the things we love the most that destroy us,” says President Snow in an ominous voice.
The clip shows how their relationship changes over the years. The two sister reunite in District 13, the hotbed of the revolution.
The movie hits theaters in November.
