Tracy Morgan gave a touching and humorous speech at the 67th Emmy Awards last night that showed he’d made great progress since a devastating 2014 traffic accident. “When I finally regained consciousness I was ecstatic to learn I wasn’t the one who messed up,” he said.

Morgan was traveling on the New Jersey Turnpike when his Mercedes van was slammed in the rear by a Walmart tractor-trailer.

Morgan moved haltingly across the stage to the podium. But he was articulate and showed he still had his comedic timing.
