Bindi Irwin’s emotional tribute to her dad, the late animal conservationist Steve Irwin, floored the judges on last night’s “Dancing with the Stars.” Her contemporary routine with pro dancer Derek Hough topped the judge’s scores.

The theme of last night’s show was “Most Memorable Year.” For Mindi, that was the year her dad died in 2006.

She danced to the song “Every Breath You Take” off the 1983 album Synchronicity by English rock band The Police.

Irwin died at age 44, after a sting ray’s barbed tail pierced his heart. She was only eight at the time.

“It took a really long time to understand what really happened.” she said. “For the rest of my life, I’m going to feel like he’s going to come home.”

Bindi said she hoped her dad’s spirit would live through her dance and floored the judges.

“That took my breath away… That dance was breathtaking,” said judge Julianne Hough.

“He was dancing with you every step of the way… He’s proud of you. Australia’s proud of you,” added judge Bruno Tonioli.

Bindi and Derek scored a 28 out of 30 from the judges, including a perfect 10 from Tonioli, the season’s first.

Tamar Braxton also had another stellar performance and Hayes Grier showed she has the chops to pull off an upset with a strong performance last night.

But it wasn’t Gary Busey’s night. He was eliminated along with his pro partner Anna Trebunskaya. Busey was hilarious… and creepy in a way, after learning he’d lost.
