Odom was found unconscious in his VIP suite at the infamous Love Ranch South in Crystal, Nevada this afternoon (Oct. 13).
It’s not known at the moment how long was unconscious, but employees at the legal brothel, who are trained in CPR and other life saving techniques were unable to revive him, according news reports.
Love Ranch owner Dennis Hof said Odom had “mucus-type liquid coming out of his nose and mouth,” according to the gossip site TMZ. That’s a classic sign of a drug overdose and/or cardiac arrest, according to medical references.
If Odom’s brain was deprived of oxygen for more than two minutes he may have suffered irreversible brain damage. The fact that doctors are using intubation suggests he is unable to breathe on his own and that his condition is life threatening.
Odom split from Khloe Kardashian in 2013. Their divorce was finalized in July, although a judge has yet to sign off on the split.
The former Los Angeles Laker showed up at the brothel on Saturday (Oct. 9), according to Hof. He reportedly spent time with several women and was known to be taking an herbal substitute for Viagra. Depending on the substance, it may have been enough on its own to trigger a heart attack.
It’s unknown if Odom was taking other drugs, but he has been known to abuse crack cocaine. He’d previously gone on two- or three-day benders while married to Khloe.
In June Khloe expressed fear that Odom would go on another bender because of the death of his childhood friend, Jamie Sangouthai.
In August, Kardashian was unnerved by her ex-husband because of bizarre behavior and deep denial about the end of their marriage. He made chilling remarks in an interview and IM raised red flags. We reported at the time that he might be capable of a suicide and possibly even a murder-suicide.
He exhibited signs of possible psychosis and deep depression and appeared to be a time-bomb waiting to explode.
Late today, the Nye County Sheriff’s Department released the following statement:
At approximately 3:15 pm on October 13, 2015, a call came into the Nye County Dispatch Center from Richard Hunter, Media Director for Dennis Hof’s Bunny Ranch, requesting an ambulance for an unresponsive male experiencing a medical emergency at the Love Ranch in Crystal, Nevada, approximately twenty miles north of Pahrump, Nevada in Nye County. An ambulance from Pahrump Valley Fire and Rescue Service arrived at 3:34 pm and the patient, identified as Lamar Odom was stabilized and transported to Desert View Hospital arriving at 4:16 pm. Nye County Sheriff’s Office Detectives Cory Fowles and Michael Eisenloffel arrived and conducted an investigation on scene. After being treated by the physicians, arrangements were made to transport him by Mercy Air helicopter. However, Mr. Odom was unable to be transported by air due to his stature. He was immediately transported by Pahrump Valley Fire and Rescue Ambulance to Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas, Nevada for further treatment.
No further updates have been provided, and so far reps for the Kardashian family have not made a statement.
