Gwen Stefani looked almost translucent wearing minimal makeup and a stunning white gown to sing her emotional song, “Used to Love You,” on last night’s episode of “The Voice.” Was she singing to Gavin Rossdale?
Stefani and Rossdale, her husband of 13 years, filed for divorce in August, citing irreconcilable differences.
They have three children together, Kingston, nine, Zuma, six and Apollo, 1. They’re seeking joint custody and have pledged to “remain partners in parenthood.”
Gwen, who has had the more successful career, is seeking to block Gavin from receiving spousal support, and she’s quickly rebounded. She’s in a showmance with “Voice” co-star Blake Shelton. He recently split from country singer Miranda Lambert.
The song is the lead single off Gwen’s upcoming solo album. Although she has refused to say Rossdale was her inspiration, she attributed the song to “recent events in he life.”
Gwen is usually buoyant on the show and full of energy. It was a sharp change of pace to see her become so emotional, or to go with minimal makeup. She’s noted for her ruby red lips and platinum blonde hair.
She debuted “Used to Love You” on the Ellen DeGeneres show and also performed it at the American Music Awards. It was also her first solo performance on the show this season.
Blake was super supportive of her performance. “Wow… @gwenstefani…. Such an amazing performance. #respect.” he Tweeted.
