Kristen Stewart lashes out at celebrities who “sell their lives to the media” and live “comic book” Hollywood lives. She’s knows they’re just in it for the money. Hello? Was she talking about Kim Kardashian?
Stewart has always had some enmity for the Kardashian clan and the whole notion of reality television. To her, they’re living a lie.
“People who are interested in selling a life as if it’s a comic book story? It’s just money, money, money, money,” she scolds.
“It’s just bullshit distraction, and a lot of people make a lot of money on that, because we wanna get distracted,” she adds.
Yep, definitely sounds like she has the Kardashians in mind.
Aside from that, face it, most celebrities, these days, have a difficult time controlling their own public image, given our runaway tabloid culture. Most of the stuff that appears online is made up.
You’d think she would know that after all the ruthless speculation that’s appeared in print and online about her life.
Still, you have to give her credit. She didn’t seek the spotlight. She merely starred in the most popular coming-of-age teen movie in decades.
Her star turn in the “Twilight” movie series made her famous. But she also didn’t do herself any favors.
She set the tone for tabloid coverage with her secretive romance with co-star Robert Pattinson. Bet she wishes she had that to do over again.
Better to have gotten it out in the open and curbed the trash talk. Instead, she let the tabloids run on endlessly–to this day–with fabricated stories.
For the record, she and Pattinson broke up in 2013. Neither, really, has looked back.
In fact, Stewart longs for the days when she was just another face in the crowd.
“I danced the other night, and it felt so f-Ckin’ good. And it’s so not like me. I envy people like that so much,” she said.
“I’m pretty physical, but I really need to let myself go. Honestly, I just wish I could f-ckin’ dance more. That’s all.”
Stewart is one of four celebrities who appear on the cover of the new issue, spring/summer 2016 issue, dubbed “The Play Issue.” She’s joined by Kate Moss and singers Grimes and Bjork.
The issue doubles as a celebration of the magazine’s 15th anniversary.
Kristen has cemented herself as a fashion icon, especially in Europe where she holds a special allure thanks to her close relationship with Karl Lagerfeld at Chanel.
In the photo spread, she exudes a Euro decadence that’s equal parts rebellious and sexual. She’s styled by Fashion Director Katie Shillingford.
The magazine says in an editorial note:
“Accompanying the shoot is a Parisian tête-à-tête with actor and artist Benn Northover, in which the pair consider the strength of focus and subversive spirit which have landed Stewart supporting actress trophies from the New York Film Critic’s Circle and the César awards.”
