Brown was found unresponsive and revived by paramedics, but she died five months later without every recovering from a coma. The cause of death was drowning-induced pneumonia.
Bobbi was 22.
“Death was clearly not due to natural causes, but the medical examiner has not been able to determine whether death was due to intentional or accidental causes, and has therefore classified the manner of death as undetermined,” according to a statement by the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s office.
The autopsy found marijuana, alcohol, a cocaine-related substance called benzoylecgonine, morphine and benzodiazepines, which are medications used for sedation or to treat anxiety.
The morphine could have come from heroin, but the finding was also inconclusive, the report said.
Gordon has been a person of interest in a continuing murder investigation by the Fulton County prosecutor’s office, which opposed a motion filed by a local media outlet to release the sealed autopsy report.
Father Bobby Brown criticized the move. “For news affiliates to seek and obtain my daughter’s autopsy report, before anyone has been brought to justice for her death, is mind blowing to me. Please pray for my family,” he said in a statement.
Bobbi Kristina nearly drowned almost two years to the day after her mother, famed singer Whitney Houston, died. She was found dead in a tub of water on the eve of the Grammys in Feb. 2012.
Houston died of cocaine intoxication complicated by heart disease. She was 48.
Lawyers representing Bobbi Kristina’s estate filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Gordon in June. It claims he placed her in the bathtub and let her drown in a fit of jealous rage.
Both the Houston and Brown families have painted Gordon as the bad guy. He was barred from attending Bobbi Kristina’s funeral.
The suit is seeking $40 million in damages from Gordon, who allegedly looted more than $11 million for her bank accounts after she fell into a coma, according to court papers.
