Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders dance their last waltz in a hilarious “Saturday Night Live” cold open. The two bitter Democratic presidential rivals let bygones be bygones but scheming Hillary has other plans for her political opponent.
SNL regular Kate McKinnon reprised her role as Hillary and Larry David played the irascible Sanders.
The presidential election has given SNL some political punch and made the current season worth watching. And, speaking of punches, the sketch comedy show hasn’t pulled many during its political sketches.
McKinnon artfully plays off of Clinton’s alleged duplicity. ‘I’ve done it, I’ve won the nomination!’ she proclaims while downing a beer in a Los Angeles bar.
“I mean, no I haven’t, I keep losing states,” she corrects herself. “But mathematically, I’ve done it! To math!” she toasts.
The bartender announces closing time, but Bernie is having none of it. “No freaking way! I’m not goin’ anywhere, I can stay here as long as I want,” he bellows from a stuff chair.
With that, Hillary invites him over for one last drink. The barbs fly fast and furiously until Hillary invites Bernie to dance. He “graciously” agrees after she offers him a few super-delegates.
But Bernie doesn’t realize he’s dancing his last Tango.
