Kim Kardashian is being hailed as a business mogul by Forbes magazine, which trumpeted the runaway success of her mobile app and video game.
Kim said her late father, attorney Robert Kardashian, would be proud she made the cover of Forbes.
“Such a tremendous honor to be on the cover of @Forbes!” she wrote on Instagram. “I never dreamed this would happen, and know my Dad would be so proud. #NotBadForAGirlWithNoTalent ??
Kardashian, who rocketed to fame after her X-rated sex tape was leaked in 2007, clapped back at haters who dismissed her as an airhead with “no talent” other than posing nude.
Kim launched her mobile app in June 2014. She earned $45 million from the video game this year, according to Forbes. Some media outlets say the app (which costs $1.99) has grossed $160 million in total revenue.
While most of Kim’s net income comes from her reality TV empire and lucrative endorsements for makeup, beauty, perfume, clothing, and weight loss products, she has evolved into a savvy businesswoman who has diversified her media empire.
“I became really intrigued with the tech world,” Kardashian told Forbes. “I realized this is really going to be the next cycle of my career and this is what I want to focus on.”
Kim updates her app frequently to reflect her daily schedule. For example, when she vacationed in Mexico recently, her character in the video game also traveled to Mexico the same day.
“I would give [developer Glu Mobile] bikinis and be like, ‘Hurry up and mock up this bikini because I’m going to wear it, and then you can have it live in the game!’” she said.
The Keeping Up With the Kardashians star reportedly earned $51 million in 2016, landing her at No. 42 on the Forbes Celebrity 100 List.
Kim, who has 46 million Twitter followers and 77 million Instagram fans, makes money doing the most mundane things: She reportedly earns up to $10,000 per sponsored tweet and even more per Instagram post.
Kardashian also makes money to lose weight. Kim recently lost 70 pounds with the Atkins diet, as TheImproper has reported. While terms of the endorsement deal weren’t disclosed, the mom of two no doubt pocketed a hefty six figures to promote the popular low-carb diet.
Multiple news outlets have estimated Kim’s net worth at $85 million to $100 million. At this rate, she could be on her way to becoming a billionaire.
