Jon Stewart took time out of retirement to visit Stephen Colbert, who graciously yielded his desk to the former “Daily Show” star. Stewart showed his old form, lambasting Donald Trump and Fox Newsies like Sean Hannity.

The 53-year-old comedian lumped Republican Trump and Fox News commentators in the same camp: “Those fighting to be included in the ideal of equality are not being divisive – those fighting to keep those people out are,” he said.

Fox News commentators like Hannity proved to be easy targets because of the fawning coverage and hypocritical pronouncements. They praised Trump for statements that drew strong criticism when President Obama said them.

He feigned not being able to recall Hannity’s name, calling him instead, “lump.” Hannity widely criticized Obama, he noted, for being politically inexperienced and using a TelePrompTer. But Hannity had no problem with Trump’s inexperience or TelePrompTer-hugging speech.

He took particular umbrage with the Republican party:

“The Republicans appear to have a very clear plan for America. They articulated it throughout the convention. No. 1, jail your political opponent. No. 2, inject Rudy Giuliani with a speedball and a Red Bull enema. And then No. 3, spend the rest of the time scaring the holy bejesus out of everybody.”

As for Fox News, he had this to say:

“You just want that person to give you your country back, because you feel you’re this country’s rightful owners. There’s only one problem with that – This country isn’t yours. You don’t own it… You don’t own patriotism. You don’t own Christianity.”

Stewart made a previous appearance on Colbert’s show to riff on the Republican National Convention.

In one hilarious skit, Colbert went deep off grid. He found Stewart holed up in a log cabin deep in an impenetrable forest.

Colbert wanted someone to explain how Trump became the Republican presidential nominee. “That guy?” Stewart exclaimed.
