Sarah Palin’s eight-episode reality series, “Sarah Palin’s Alaska’ is finally out of the box with the release of a trailer by TLC, the Discovery Network cable channel best known for reality show “Jon & Kate Plus Eight.”
The show was announced in March and has been widely anticipated, not without a note of derision, given Palin’s stance on environmental issues. She denies global warming and who can forget “Drill, Baby, Drill.”
Kate Gosselin debuted her new show “Kate Plus Eight,” and will make a guest appearance on Palin’s so-called “docuseries.” Gosselin was in Alaska in August.
On the show, produced by reality television mogul Mark Burnett, Palin provides a tour of her home state, Alaska, the nation’s last great wilderness.
The move comes following the Discovery Channel’s revamp of the Planet Green network away from strictly eco-friendly programming, according to The New York Times.
“Our family enjoys Discovery’s networks,” Palin said back in March. “I look forward to working with Mark to bring the wonder and majesty of Alaska to all Americans.”
The Palin show was cooked up by Discovery COO Peter Liguori, who is a former head of Fox Entertainment.
The trailer shows Palin hiking across the frozen tundra, cross-country skiing and kayaking, mushing behind sled dogs and riding a ski mobile, among other sporting activities.
Viewers will have to put up with a lot of Palin bromides, judging from the short video.
“Oh, gosh!” Palin gushes. “We are somewhere that people dream about.”
And, “This is flippin’ fun!”
The show premieres Sunday, November 14 at 8PM on TLC.
