Tamra Judge, star of “The Real Housewives of Orange County,” says you can slow down aging and reverse menopause through diet and exercise.

Tamra, who recently won her first fitness competition at age 48, says a low carb, high-protein diet and weightlifting workouts gave her a bangin’ bikini body and made her face look younger.

Like many middle-aged women, Judge gained weight and got flabby in her 40s, around the time most women enter perimenopause and menopause.

Alarmed by the changes she saw in her body, Tamra adopted a low carb, high-protein diet and started a daily exercise routine that includes lifting heavy weights. high-intensity interval training, and cardio exercise (see video).

In a few short months, Judge went from 28% body fat to 14%, and now weighs about 110 pounds.

“I wish I could teach everybody that’s going through menopause,” the mom of four told ET. ” Trust me, you don’t have to accept it. You can reverse it.

“My whole body composition has changed. I truly believe that working out, eating well, and taking your supplements is really the key to staying young.”

“I can see it in my face. I can see it in my skin. I can just see it in my whole body,” said Tamra, whose husband, Eddie Judge, is five years younger than her.

“I’m 48 years old. I started to see just a layer of fat developing around my midsection. And I’m like, oh hell no! This is not happening.”

While many women are afraid they’ll bulk up if they lift heavy weights, Tamra says weightlifting accelerates weight loss and gives you a tight, toned body.

Weightlifting can help women get a lean, taut bikini body without looking masculine or beefy, said Michael Matthews, author of Thinner Leaner Stronger.

Fitness expert and bodybuilder Mary Kay Sellek agrees. At age 52, Sellek went from 165 pounds to 141 pounds, and whittled down her body fat from 29% to 14% body fat, thanks to weightlifting.

Lifting weights can slow down — and even reverse — the aging process by preserving lean muscle mass, enhancing brain function, and boosting antioxidant enzyme activity, said Sellek, author of The Body Whisperer.

Tamra Judge’s workout routine includes weightlifting, HIIT workouts and cardio exercise like running on the treadmill.

In addition to weight training, Tamra Judge does fat-blasting high-intensity interval training (HIIT).

Studies show HIIT workouts accelerates weight loss, boosts metabolism and burns belly fat better than steady-state cardio exercise.

“HIIT is a fantastic way to lose weight and get healthy quickly with very short bursts of targeted exercise,” said Sean Bartram, author of High-Intensity Interval Training for Women.

Tamra Judge says it’s never too late to get in the best shape of your life. “It doesn’t matter what age you are, you can do it!” said Tamra, who competes in her next fitness competition in November.
