Kristen Stewart says her relationship with Robert Pattinson was reduced to a comic book by the media. But life with lover Alicia Cargile has made her rethink her ideas about love and her desire to share more openly her lesbianism.

Kristen’s stunning revelations in the latest issue of Elle UK are the most open yet about her personal life.

Before, she’s always kept it closely guarded.

Last year, she couldn’t shake rumors she was switch hitting after she and Cargile were first spotted exchanging PDA.

Later, she was rumored to have hooked up with singer Lyndsey Gunnulfsen and model Stella Maxwell.

Most recently, she was spotted in the arms of French singer Stephanie “Soko” Sokolinski. But they split in May after dating for a few months.

Not long after, she was spotted back, again, with Cargile. This time the relationship seems to be on solid ground.

“I think also right now I’m just really in love with my girlfriend,” she told Elle UK magazine. “We’ve broken up a couple of times and gotten back together, and this time I was like, ‘Finally, I can feel again.'”

Stewart dated Pattinson for four years during filming of their epic teen drama, Twilight. The two had gone so far as to move in together in 2012.

But their relationship exploded in a cheating scandal the same year. Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders was photographed nuzzling her breasts in a public park.

Sanders was nearly 20 years her senior and was married to UK model Liberty Ross, with two children.

She and Pattinson split months later.

That was the last time, Kristen Stewart is known to have been with a man.

She had this to say about the relationships:

“When I was dating a guy I was hiding everything that I did because everything personal felt like it was immediately trivialized, so I didn’t like it. We were turned into these characters and placed into this ridiculous comic book, and I was like, ‘That’s mine. You’re making my relationship something that it’s not.’ I didn’t like that.”

But then she said, things changed when she started dating girls.

“I was like, ‘Actually, to hide this provides the implication that I’m not down with it or I’m ashamed of it, so I had to alter how I approached being in public.’ It opened my life up and I’m so much happier,” she said.

He over-riding desire for privacy stemmed she said from her struggle with anxiety.

“I went through so much stress and periods of strife. I would have panic attacks… I literally always had a stomach ache,” she said.

“And I was a control freak and I couldn’t anticipate what was going to happen in a given situation, so I’d be like, ‘Maybe I’m going to get sick.'”

Today, she says she’s grown out of it but not completely.

“I obviously hope everything going on right now will work out, but I am confident that life is good and I’ll be OK whatever happens. So in moments when that is cloudy and I feel saturated and unable to engage in how good life can be, however consuming those feelings are, they are so momentary… I’m think pretty good at being happy.”
