Tony Perkins, the outspoken anti-gay religious zealot who often says God punishes gay supporters with floods and other natural disasters, has lost his house… in a raging flood. Oh, the humanity! Oh, the irony!

Perkins heads the Family Research Council, a far-right religious group that lobbies against what it considers anti-Christian values.

Perkins has close ties with Breitbart News, whose executive director Steve Bannon has just joined the Donald Trump campaign as a media advisor.

Perkins spelled out his believe that God sends natural disasters to punish “sinners” during an interview on his radio show with self-proclaimed Christian prophet Jonathan Cahn.

Chan said Hurricane Joaquin, which caused heavy flooding in North and South Carolina last October, was a sign of God’s wrath to punish states that had legalized gay marriage.

Perkins replied that “those on the left like to mock these things.” But throughout history, he added, it’s been well known that “God is trying to send us a message” through natural disasters.

Perkins, however, felt the wrath of God himself when flooding ravaged Southern Louisiana this week, killed 11 people and destroyed more than 40,000 homes. Among those wrecked was Perkins’ house.

The Pastor, who is on vacation, called into his own radio show today (Aug. 19) to describe how he had to escape his home in a canoe. He said it could take up to six months before he can return.

He said the flood reached “biblical proportions,” but was not meant to punish sinners.

Here’s where the irony comes in.

Perkins said the flood was an “incredible, encouraging spiritual exercise to take you to the next level in your walk with an almighty and gracious God who does all things well.”

What would the Church Lady say…. SATAN!

Incidentally, Perkins anti-gay wrath is beyond virulent, according to the watchdog group Right Wing Watch.

In 2010, he supported legislation in Uganda that would have imposed a life sentence on anyone convicted of having sex, or touching someone with the intent of having sex, with someone of the same sex, according to the lobbying group.
