Justin Bieber was busy on Instagram over the weekend assuring fans he’s a changed person from two years ago when he was arrested in Miami for driving under the influence, driving with an expired license and resisting arrest. Do you beliebe him?

Bieber, now 23, has made the same claim before, only to find himself embroiled in one controversy or another, usually at his own instigation.

In January, Bieber was caught in the middle of a controversy involving New York Giants players Odell Beckham Jr., Victor Cruz and rookies Sterling Shepard and Roger Lewis.

Bieber was photographed in Miami partying with the players and others on a boat where drinking alcohol and smoking marijuana.

The New York media had a field day comparing the incident to an episode involving Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo nine years ago.

Beckham and his posse partied with Bieber until 6 a.m. The Giants went on to lose to the Packers 38-13 in the playoff game.

In June a year ago, the Canadian singer was allegedly involved in a scuffle outside his hotel with the man who has since filed a complaint with police, according to gossip site TMZ.

Justin allegedly ripped the man’s sunglasses from his face and become physically violent after the man photographed him. A video of the incident has since surfaced.

Before that, Bieber was widely criticized for a string of loutish behavior. In the singer’s pledge to be a better person, he left himself some wiggle room.

He posted his Miami mug shot next to a recent photo and wrote all caps:

““I LOVE THIS because it reminds me I’M NOT EXACTLY WHERE I WANT TO BE BUT THANK GOD I’M NOT WHERE I USED TO BE!! THE BEST IS YET TO COME. DO YOU BELIEVE IT?”

Bieber’s previous mea culpa came in Jan. 2015 when he apologized for his bad behavior, said it was all an act and turned the episode into a sympathy play.

“Why I say ‘pretending’ is often we pretend to be something we’re not as a cover up of what we’re truly feeling inside,” he explained. “I really want people to know how much I care, how much I care about people, and how I’m not that person to say, ‘I don’t give a f**k,’ you know? I’m not that kid… I just want to make the best impression on people and be kind and loving and gentle and soft.”

Despite his loutish image, Bieber has managed to keep his career on track.

His latest album, 2015’s Purpose debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 album chart, with 649,000 equivalent album units, including 522,000 traditional album sales. Bieber scored his sixth No 1 album and largest sales week of his career.
