Tiger Woods’ ex-wife Elin Nordegren is set to auction more than $2.5 million in jewelry the golfer gave her during their five-year marriage — including her engagement ring — in an effort to cleanse herself of the relationship.
The Swedish beauty is auctioning off the valuables at high-end auction house Sotheby’s. The haul includes jewelry from Tiffany, Harry Winston and Cartier.
‘It’s the ultimate act of revenge. It’s her way of saying, ‘Now do you get the message? It’s over!’ a source close the mother-of-two said.
“She treasured the pieces as gifts from a loving husband, but now figures they were more likely things he bought without much care to cover his guilt.”
Indeed, Woods allegedly slept with at least a dozen women — barmaids, hostesses, cocktail waitresses, good-time girls, hookers and porn stars –during his marriage.
Nordegren, who comes from a well-to-do family — her twin sister is a lawyer — more than likely doesn’t need the money.
She reportedly got at least $100 million from the marital break up.
More likely, she is interested in making a clean break from a fairly tale marriage that went horribly wrong.
“Money doesn’t make you happy,” she told People magazine recently.
“But I have to be honest: It is making some things easier. I have the opportunity to be with my children as much as I want.
“My immediate plan is for the kids and me to continue to adjust to our new situation,” she said.
Woods struggled through the end of the professional golf tour without a win.
