Lady Gaga wants a face-to-face showdown with Madonna. The singers have been feuding for years over Madonna’s claims that Gaga is just a wannabe knock-off. Now the Material Girl has really gotten Gaga’s Italian up.
“The only thing that really bothers me about her is that I’m Italian and from New York so, like, if I got a problem with somebody, I’m gonna tell you to your face,” Gaga said in her new documentary “Lady Gaga: Five Foot Two.”
The apparently began back in 2012, when Madonna described Gaga’s music as “reductive.”
The 59-year-old singer was referring to similarities between her own song “Express Yourself” and Gaga tune “Born This Way.”
At the time, Gaga, now 31, admitted she’d been a Madonna fan since she was a teen. She also acknowledged “Born This Way” was “influenced” by the Material Girl’s tune.
“The thing with me and Madonna, for example, is that I admired her always and I still admire her no matter what she might think of me. No, I do,” Gaga said.
“But no matter how much respect I have for her as a performer, I could never wrap my head around the fact that she wouldn’t look me in the eye and tell me that I was reductive or whatever…”
“I just want Madonna to f**king push me up against the wall and kiss me and tell me I’m a piece of shit,” She says in the Netflix documentary.
