Melissa Benoist’s and Blake Jenner’s divorce has been made official. The Supergirl actress joins a long list of Hollywood celebs who broke their vows in what has become almost a holiday tradition.
Hollywood marriages are typically measured in dog years. If a couple lasts a year, it’s like seven for normal people.
Not surprisingly, Benoist filed for divorced last holiday season, in December 2016, ending their two-year marriage.
The standard excuse “irreconcilable differences,” drove them apart, according to court paper.
Fortunately, the couple had no children together, which takes questions about splitting marital assets and child support off the table.
The former couple quickly reached a property settlement but didn’t file it with the court, according to gossip site TMZ.
The former “Glee” co-stars portrayed Marley Rose and Ryder Lynn on the show.
Melissa, 29, and Blake, 25, met on the set of the Fox musical drama series in 2012. Their on-screen love interest quickly blossomed off-screen.
Other than that, Melissa is best known for her role as “Supergirl.”
Also calling it quits are “Saturday Night Live” comedian Bill Hader, 39, and wife of 11 years, Maggie Carey, 41. They cite the same excuse, “irreconcilable differences.”
The couple had been living apart since July and Bill finally filed for divorce.
Age is often a factor in many divorces and the fact that Hader is pushing 40 may have been one of the triggers. The phenomenon is known as “middle age crazy.”
Their divorce is being complicated by their three kids, Hannah, eight, Harper, five, and three-year-old Hayley.
Hader has asked for joint physical and legal custody.
The “Finding Dory” star is reported to have stated spousal support should be paid to 41-year-old Maggie, who he met in Los Angeles through a friend of hers from college.
She wrote and directed 2013 movie “The To Do List.” It starred Bill alongside Rachel Bilson, Christopher Mintz-Plasse and Donald Glover.
He’s best known for his comedic work on “Saturday Night Live” from 2005 to 2013.
In music, Mel B has been granted a divorce from Stephen Belafonte nine months after their split.
The former Spice Girl was not in court in Los Angeles to hear the settlement. No wonder.
Stephen, 42, will reportedly “walk away with more than $10 million.”
He boasted outside of court that he was “Single and ready to mingle” and called himself “the happiest guy in the world. ”
Their bitter divorce battle has played out in the tabloids. Both Mel and Stephen made shocking allegations about the another.
In the ruling, Mel was forced to cover Stephen’s legal fees – reported to be around $240,000 – and has agreed to split the proceeds of the sale of the companies they created during their marriage.
Mel and Stephen will also share custody of their six-year-old daughter Madison.
The judge ruled that the former lovers, who married in June 2007, must also split the profit from the sale of their Los Angeles mansion.
“I am happy. I got everything I wanted. She put me through the worst hell ever. But now it’s all over – I hope,” Belefonte told London’s Daily Mail.
Mel revealed she had lasered off a tattoo dedicated to her husband. Yep it was that bitter.
Georgina Chapman, the cheated on wife of disgraced Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein is heading for a high-priced divorce.
She’s apparently been waiting until the 10th anniversary of their marriage. The milestone triggers a major bump in spousal support.
The prenup they signed in December 2007 says Georgina gets $400k annually for every year of marriage. Before the anniversary, it was only $300k.
The docs also spell out her cut of their marital assets.
For the first five years of marriage, Georgina gets $250k per year — and for years 6 through 10, she gets $700k per year. That totals up to a lump sum payment of $4.75 million.
She also gets an additional $3 million for a housing allowance for a total of $11.75 million.
Gay marriages are all the rage in Hollywood and so are gay divorces.
First season “Survivor” winner Richard Hatch, has split from his husband, TMZ claims.
He’s been married for 14 years to Emiliano Cabral.
Casey Affleck got off lightly for his divorce from Summer Phoenix. He’s paying $4,000 a month in child support to Summer, plus private school tuition, but no spousal support.
