Margot Robbie is generating Oscar buzz for her latest role in “I,Tonya,” the story about ice skating’s biggest scandal involving Tonya Harding and rival Nancy Kerrigan. It seems Hollywood just can’t get enough of her.
Since her breakout role in 2013 film “Wolf of Wall Street,” she’s appeared in nine films.
The include 2016 hits “Whiskey Tango Foxtrot,” “The Legend of Tarzan” and her smash portrayal in “Suicide Squad.”
In fact, she’s been knocking out four films a year for the past two years. She slowed down in 2017 with just two films, “I, Tonya” and “Goodbye Christopher Robin.”
But this year, she’ll appear in four films again. She’ll have a voice role in “Peter Rabbit” and star in “Mary Queen of Scots” as Queen Elizabeth I, “Terminal” on which she also served as producer, and “Dreamland.”
At that pace, an actress might normally be in danger of over-exposure, but Hollywood can’t get enough of her. She’s become a major in-demand actress.
But one of her long-term goals is to work behind the camera.
“I still love acting. But I’ve spent the last 10 years on a film set, and I realized that if I am pouring my heart and soul into a film, I want to be one of those voices in the conversation making decisions,” she tells Elle magazine in its February issue.
