Mark Salling, who gained famed as one of the beloved characters on the hit Fox musical show “Glee” was found hanged today (Jan. 30) at a Little League baseball field near his LA home, a gruesome end following a guilty plea to child porn charges.

Salling was 35 at the time of his death, which appears to be a suicide.

Salling was awaiting sentencing after pleading guilty to possessing of child pornography.

His family described him as “a gentle and loving person, a person of great creativity, who was doing his best to atone for some serious mistakes and errors of judgment,” according to a statement.

His death was confirmed in the statement.

Salling had been seen in recent weeks, making trips to a local 7/11, according to local media reports.

In a plea agreement with prosecutors, the actor admitted possessing images of prepubescent children in pornographic poses. More than 50,000 were found his computer and a thumb drive, following execution of a search warrant.

Salling was facing 20 years of supervised probation. He agreed to strict restrictions on his contact with anyone under age 16 and to register as a sex offender, according to terms of the deal.

He was also ordered to pay an estimated $50,000 in restitution to his victims.

Salling was born and raised in Texas and was home schooled in a very religious family. He showed musical talent early on.

He could sing, write and play multiple musical instruments, including piano, guitar, bass guitar and drums.

He appeared in the pilot for “Glee and joined the regular cast, playing Noah “Puck” Puckerman, the best friend of Finn, played by the late Corey Monteith.

For the fifth season in 2013, he became a recurring guest star on the series.

Puck thought Finn was a douche for joining the New Directions glee club at the fictional William McKinley High School. But eventually he decided to join himself.

Salling was nominated for the Teen Choice Award for “Choice TV: Breakout Star Male” for “Choice TV: Scene Stealer” Male category for the 2012 season.

Salling reportedly suffered from psychological problems.

The actor had attempted suicide at least once before last August, He slashed both wrists, but recovered, according to a local media reports.

A roommate called 9-1-1 and helped him stop the bleeding until paramedics arrived and transported him to the hospital, according to gossip site TMZ.

He was accused in Jan. 2013 of committing sexual battery on a woman by forcing her to have unprotected sex without her consent.

He denied the charges and sued for defamation two years later. Both cases were eventually settled out of court.

Police are investigating his death and no official determination has been made yet.
