Eva Longoria’s dream marriage to basketball star Tony Parker has collapsed due to the same temptations that destroyed Tiger Woods’ marriage — non-stop attention from women obsessed by pro sports figures.
Longoria, 35, was trumpeting her “perfect” marriage as recently as this month when she hosted the MTV Europe Music Awards, and was said to be devastated to learn that Parker had been texting women during their marriage.
An awkward few days passed when her rep tried to deny reports the marriage was on the rocks.
But court papers surfaced today that the “Desperate Housewives” actress had filed divorce papers at Los Angeles Superior Court. She is seeking spousal support, although the couple is said to have a prenup.
The marriage has eerie parallels with the Tiger Woods sex scandal. Woods carried on secret affairs with more than a dozen women while married to Swedish beauty Elin Nordegren.
Later when the scandal broke, the women came forward with hundreds of emails and text messages, many tawdry, to prove their relationships to the golfer.
Parker allegedly has been texting a mutual family friend ‘hundreds of times a month for almost a year,” according to US Weekly.
So far, reports say at least two women have surfaced who allegedly slept with Parker, one of which is the wife of a teammate.
“Eva is heartbroken by the betrayal,” a source said. Parker admitted the texting after Eva confronted him.
Eva and Tony were engaged in November 2006 and married in July of 2007 in a Roman Catholic ceremony in Paris, France.
The split was all the more surprising because Longoria and Parker when on an extended European vaction over the summer. Parker had even talked about moving to France permanently when Parker’s NBA career ended.
Longoria was previously married to American soap star Tyler Christopher from 2002 until 2004.
