D’Oh! Homer Simpson is getting dragged into the political conversation again. Texas Republican Sen. Ted Cruz happily proclaimed Homer, Bart, Maggie and Marge Republicans. Only smarmy, elitist Lisa is a Democrat, he snickered. He couldn’t be more misguided.
So Ted Cruz said Republicans are the party of Homer Simpson. He…does realize Homer is a complete buffoon who acts against his own self benefit due to stupidity time and time again right? Wait, never mind, kind of spot on.

Cruz, who professes to be a fan of the show, obviously wasn’t watching during the 2016 election.
In August 2016 episode, Homer and Marge endorsed Hillary Clinton for president.
Homer discovers he’s a Democrat after wife Marge lays down the law. Vote for Hillary Clinton or “I question whether I can ever be with you again,” she says.
“And that’s how I became a Democrat,” says Homer.
Cruz apparently missed the show promo. (See it below)
The Texas lawmaker, the most hated man in the Senate, drafted Homer into the GOP during a speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference.
“I think the Democrats are the party of Lisa Simpson and Republicans are happily the party of Homer and Bart and Maggie and Marge,” Cruz said.
Oddly, the show is constantly spoofing Republicans and the Cruz’s comments did not go unnoticed. Writer and producer Al Jean said Cruz needs baby Maggie’s pacifier.
In fact, it’s safe to say the only “Simpsons” Republicans are Springfield’s own robber baron Charles Montgomery Burns and his closeted gay aide Waylon Smithers.
But even Burns might be switching parties, Jean hinted.
