Julia Louis Dreyfus had a special message for her breast cancer–“fuck you”–and an urgent plea for everyone else who is suffering from the disease. She’s urging the government to make “universal health care a reality.”
The 57-year-old actress revealed last September that she had been diagnosed with the disease.
“1 in 8 women get breast cancer. Today, I’m the one,” she posted on her social media accounts.
“The good news is that I have the most glorious group of supportive and caring friends, and fantastic insurance through my union. The bad news is that not all women are so lucky, so let’s fight all cancers and make universal health care a reality,” she added.
Last month she posted a photo on Instagram celebrating her surgery.
“Hoorah! Great doctors, great results, feeling happy and ready to rock after surgery. Hey cancer, ‘Fuck you!’ Here’s my first post-op photo,” she wrote. She underwent chemotherapy in January.
The Trump administration and Republican congress made an unsuccessful attempt last year to repeal the Affordable Care Act, also known as ObamaCare. But they crippled the program cutting off a source of funding.
So far, Trump has failed to follow through on a campaign promise to come up with a better system.
Julia has been starring in the hit sitcom “Veep,” portraying fictional Vice President Selina Meyer But the final season was postponed until she has completed her treatment and is ready to return to work.
