Demi Lovato proclaimed in a new interview that she is now gender “fluid” and would consider dating a woman. But in the wake of the announcement, her mom is praying she’ll go back to long-time boyfriend Wilmer Valderrama.
The 25-year-old singer split from the 38-year-old actor last June. They dated for six years and remain close.
But mom, Dianna De La Garza would be “happy” if they reconciled “forever”.
“I do like them together. I have to be honest — I would be happy if they were together forever, but I don’t know anything about a timeline or even if it’s going to happen,” she told Access Live.
“They’re amazing friends and hopefully one day it will be more than that. And if it’s not, that will be up to her, I guess. But I do like them together.”
Demi was spotted with the former ‘That ’70s Show’ actor at Los Angeles restaurant Sol Y Luna, last month. They frequently get together at the eatery, according to a source.
“Sometimes they kiss or hug. He usually orders for her. They definitely look like they are boyfriend and girlfriend. They are always laughing and having a good time,” another source told UsWeekly.
Last year, Lovato admitted she “still loves” Wilmer and had never felt for anyone the way she did about him. But now she’s up for switch hitting.
“I’m very fluid, and I think love is love. You can find it in any gender. I like the freedom of being able to flirt with whoever I want,” she said. “And if she does meet someone she likes, she says she isn’t afraid to make the first move,” she said in the latest issue of InStyle magazine:
If so, she’ll have a wide field to choose from.
A number of young Hollywood actresses, such as Miley Cyrus, Kristen Stewart, Cara Delevingne, Bella Thorne and Amber Heard among others profess to be “gender fluid,” and open to dating women.
