Tommy Lee is still banging drum, only this one is now against his son and family over an altercation that left him with a fat lip and bruised ego. After insisting he wasn’t a drunk, he’s now wants to charge son Brandon with assault.

The Motley Crue musician and Brandon, 21, whose mother is actress Pamela Anderson, were involved in a altercation during the week. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department got involved, and now Tommy wants police to pursue the criminal complaint, according to gossip site TMZ.

“You encourage what you tolerate, and he’s not going to tolerate what Brandon did and that’s why he wants the criminal case to keep moving along … at least for now,” a source told the Web site.

Lee and Anderson married in 1995, followed by a nasty divorce three years later. But not before they had two children together Brandon and Dylan, 20.

“Pam raised the boys for the most part on her own. [Tommy and Pam] divorced when the boys were very young, and Tommy didn’t make himself available to the boys,” a family friend said.

Once he got older, Brandon tried to renew ties to his dad. “He wants better for his father. He wants to help him live a clean life and to mend their troubled past.”

A number of sources say Lee’s new fiancee, Brittany Furlan, is the source of much of the friction because she treats Anderson poorly.

In a lengthy post on her Web site, Anderson blamed Lee’s problems on alcoholism. “She is furious that Tommy would blame his own son for his endless troubles,” a source said.

No word yet on whether Brandon will be charged. Follow IM on Twitter for the latest updates to this breaking story.
