Gisele Bundchen has always been close to nature, but who knew she was really close. Despite the glamour of her modeling career and high-profile marriage to New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, a piece of Gisele’s heart is still close to home–the Brazilian rain forest.
In fact, the Brazilian model has lent her celebrity and money to a host of environmental causes, according to Vogue, which features Gisele in its latest issue.
“She has planted trees in Nairobi’s Kibera, known as the largest urban slum in Africa. She has helped detoxify the river near Horizontina, her hometown, through the Projeto Água Limpa, a clean-water initiative she established with her family,” the magazine says.
She’s also starred in “National Geographic’s” documentary series “Years of Living Dangerously,” venturing into the Brazilian jungle to explore the link between deforestation and climate change.
On the diplomatic front, Gisele works through the United Nations as an ambassador for the UN’s Environment Program.
Last September, French president Emmanuel Macron to speak to world leaders about the contamination of the global water supply and other industrial degradation of the environment.
“People forget that without a healthy environment, there are no healthy humans, because last time I checked, our life depends on the health of our planet, period,” she told the magazine.
Gisele, however, has yet to speak out about President Trump’s climate change denial, and his decision to pull out of the Paris Accord on climate change.
Last year, Bundchen tweeted a link to a Facebook video, promoting the “People’s Climate March” in Washington, but later deleted the Tweet.
Later in the year, she made a UN speech on global climate change and made her thoughts clear. (See Below)
Trump bragged during the 2016 election that Brady was a personal friend and would be voting for him, according to The Boston Globe.
Brady pushed back on the claim, and Gisele said on Instagram they were not supporting him.
For the Vogue feature she posed for top fashion photographer Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin. Tonne Goodman handled styling, with hair by Christiaan Houtenbos and makeup by Dick Page.
