Selena Gomez is not afraid to let people know it, she has a social conscience–now. She slammed Donald Trump’s family separation policy, calling “extremely disheartening.” Amid the anger and confusion, she says it’s “affecting so many people who are close to me.”

That’s a big step up from earlier this year when she was shockingly silent on the controversy surrounding accusations Woody Allen molested his seven-year-old daughter Dylan Farrow.

Her mother, Mandy Teefey, was forced to come to her defense on social media.

“I had a long talk with her about not working with him and it didn’t click,” she added.

Selena starred in Allen’s film “A Rainy Day in New York” with co-star, Timothee Chalamet. After he donated his movie salary to “Time’s Up,” The LGBT Center in New York, and RAINN, Selena made amends with a contribution herself.

This time, though, she got her back up.

At the “Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation” premiere in Los Angeles, the 25-year-old singer and actress spoke out about Trump’s immigration policy.

“It’s extremely disheartening,” she said. “There’s a lot of confusion and anger. It’s definitely been affecting so many people who are close to me.”

A day earlier, Gomez also tweeted her support for the “Keep Families Together Marches “that took swept the nation on Saturday (June 30).

She wrote:

Families seeking safety in our country need protection, understanding and opportunity, not detention. This is a moral choice, not a political one.
I don’t know about y’all, but there’s seriously nothing I love more than celebrities speaking out on the issues.”

After weeks of protest, and Trump dissembling, the president signed an executive order, June 20, to end the practice. But more than 2,500 children are still separated from their parents.

“The Families Belong Together (FBT) Coalition, one of the key nonprofits that spearheaded the marches, said they want an end the “zero-humanity” policy that created this crisis. And reunify the children with their parents.
