Mac Miller, Rapper, Ariana Grande-Ex, Dead at 26; Spiraled Down After Breakup

Mac Miller Overdose

Rapper Mac Miller died today of an apparent drug overdose.

Mac Miller, whose debut 2011 rap album Blue Slide Park went straight to No. 1 on the album charts, was found dead today (Sept. 7) in his San Fernando Valley home. A drug overdose is suspected. He was 26.

Miller was unconscious when paramedics arrived and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to authorities.

Miller, real name Malcolm McCormick, struggled with drug abuse, despite his early success. He’s probably best known, however, as Ariana Grande’s ex-boyfriend.

Miller liked to share behind-the-scenes videos of his home life on his Instagram account. In the video clips, the rapper, whose two-year relationship with Grande ended in May – showed a turntable that played his track “So It Goes.”

Only this week, Miller spoke candidly about his trouble dealing with the pressures of fame.

“There’s pressure,” he said. “A lot of times in my life, I’ve put this pressure to hold myself to the standard of whatever I thought I was supposed to be, or how I was supposed to be perceived.

“It’s the job. This is what I signed up for. So, you just have to not. You have to have your own reality and that has to be the driving force of your life. Do I wish that every single thing I did when I was 19 wasn’t a discussion? Sure,” he said.

Over the past few months, Miller appeared to be spiraling downward. He was charged with two counts of Driving Under the Influence for an incident in May in which he hit and ran. He was found to have twice the legal limit for alcohol when he was arrested, according to reports.

Authorities, contacted over 9-1-1 were told a male was in cardiac arrest, according to TMZ. Check out the video below.
