Melania Trump was left home alone by hubbie Donald Trump. So what’s a First Lady to do? Well, Melania declares victory (at last!) in the War on Christmas. You can say it anytime! she pronounces, unless you’re a border child. Boo Hoo!
In this biting new Stephen Colbert parody, the Donald stands up his beloved, leaving her to deliver the White House Christmas message on her own.
Donald told her he was running late, which, she says, is surprising, “because I have never seen him run, before.”
In any event, actress Laura Benanti had the honor, once again, of portraying Melania, down to her Slovenian accent and her sultry model looks.
Melania hasn’t got a complete grasp on the holiday tradition. “Merry, hello, and very Christmas to you,” she declares by the fire where the stockings of Don Jr., Ivanka, Eric, and Donald are hanging with care.
“Still no Donald?,” she finally says. “I guess I will have to do what I do best, distract from his failures.”
What could be better than a festive Christmas song. Melania, a former model and actress, is happy to oblige.
The self-proclaimed “most bullied woman in the world” takes it from there, and it only gets better. Just as Melania gets ready to read a “Christmas Carol,” by Charles Dickens, she’s in one.
“Shame! Shame! Shame!” howls a Jacob Marley character. Oh, wait, he was looking for Donald.
Stephen Colbert has risen to the top of the late-night ratings with his biting commentaries on all things Trump.
