Kristen Stewart came out publicly as gay three years ago, and has progressively adopted more masculine looks and mannerisms. Now, she may have reached the point where she wants to go full transgender and get a sex change to become a man.
Kristen became an international sensation on the big-screen as Bella Swan, the introverted high school student who falls for vampire Edward Cullen in the hit teen series “Twilight,” an ode to eternal teen love.
She dated co-star Robert Pattinson throughout the five-film series, and to millions of fans, they became the real-life embodiment of their characters. But they broke up in 2013 and Stewart hasn’t dated a man since.
She officially came out as a lesbian in an Elle UK magazine interview in 2016 and hasn’t looked back.
She’s openly dated a slew of women starting with her former personal assistant Alicia Cargile and a string of rumored flings with singer Lyndsey Gunnulfsen, French singer Stephanie “Soko” Sokolinski, singer St. Vincent, UK model Cara Delevingne and most recently model Stella Maxwell.
Earlier this month, however, tabloids reported that Maxwell and Kristen had split after nearly two years together. According to a source, Maxwell became disenchanted with Stewart’s increasing mannish behavior.
UsWeekly claimed that Kristen and Stella drifted apart in recent months. “They stopped seeing eye to eye and were living very different lives,”‘ said an insider.
Maxwell, 28, models for Victoria’s Secret as well as other fashion brands. She was voted No. 1 on Maxim magazine’s “Hot 100 List” for 2016.
For her part, Kristen rebounded quickly and is back to dating the hired help. She was spotted with stylist Sara Dinkin for the third time this month last Saturday (Dec. 22).But more changed than just the woman on her arm.
Kristen looked more like a man than ever. She almost always wears jeans or pants and loose fitting tee-shirts with short sleeves that reveal her clearly bulked up biceps.
Her hair is also styled like a man’s. In LGBTQ circles she might be called a “dyke,” a masculine, tomboyish, or butch woman. Her look these days is tough and assertive.
It didn’t happen overnight. Kristen began transitioning to a more androgynous look back in 2015.
She chopped off her feminine locks and started dressing the part. She was spotted in Stella McCartney’s more masculine designs at the designer’s Autumn 2015 New York City show.
She wore a black structured suit jacket with matching slacks and glossy men’s style loafers. She wore a white v-neck sweater underneath. She joined a bevy of celebrities from Ellen Page to Jody Foster and Ellen DeGeneres who routinely wear clothes inspired by mens’ fashions.
Stewart who has played two different lesbian characters in her recent films is ready to transfer her thoughts to celluloid.
“Ambiguity is my favorite thing ever. In terms of sexuality, sure,” she said in a recent interview. “And, also in making films.”
Kristen’s slow transition to more man-like dress and behavior mirrors a similar transition by former Olympic champion Bruce Jenner. He slowly transitioned to a transgender female over the course of a few years, and is now known as Caitlyn Jenner.
Cher’s daughter Chastity is now a male transgender who goes by Chaz. Australian model Andreja Pejić made the transition from man to woman. Laverne Cox, Jazz Jennings and model Hari Nef are also well-known transgenders.
Obviously becoming transgender is the ultimate expression of sexuality and a number of celebrities have gone that route. Key signs suggest Kristen could be on the same road. But only time will tell how far she will go.
