Billy Ray Cyrus, who has steadfastly defended daughter Miley Cyrus through all of her provocative episodes, from wardrobe malfunctions to racy videos, is not defending her this time over her bong hits at a raucous house party.
“Sorry guys. I had no idea,” Billy Ray tweeted Friday (Dec. 10) afternoon. “Just saw this stuff for the first time myself.”
A video of Miley taking hits from a bong, reportedly loaded with an herb known as Salvia hit the Internet this morning on gossip web site TMZ. The drug is legal, but is said to have mild hallucinogenic effects.
Miley clearly acted stoned on the video, laughing uncontrollably and at times appearing incoherent.
“Im so sad,” Billy Ray’s tweeted. “There is much beyond my control right now.”
Indeed, Billy Ray and wife Tish are in the midst of a divorce after 17 years of marriage.
Billy Ray initiated divorce proceedings and reports say he believes his wife had an affair with Poison singer Bret Michaels.
Both Michaels and Tish have denied the allegation.
Cyrus hasn’t been on Twitter in more than a year, and there has been no response to the video from her or her reps.
She can be seen in the 2-minute and 36-second clip taking a hit while a female friend films it. Miley is aware she’s being filmed.
While pot wasn’t in the bong, Miley was clearing getting off.
“I’m having a little bit of a bad trip,” Cyrus says into the camera.
“Is that a Liam look-alike – is that my boyfriend?” she asked seemingly disoriented from the effects of the substance.
Giggling uncontrollably she asks, “Is that me tripping? Does that look like Liam at all?”
The video ends with Cyrus saying, “I want more of that s—,” laughing and talking gibberish.
